The course is designed to assist people with starting their safe driving careers. The course will seek to take a comprehensive, learner centered approach to reduced risk driving and will introduce new drivers to our highway systems, best driving practices, rules of the road, modern-day vehicle safety technology systems, and much, much more.

The course relies heavily upon scientifically reliable data to support concepts, methods, and techniques. Sources such as The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, The National Safety Council, and AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety contribute significantly to its subject matter. The course purpose is to be a driver training program designed specifically to address causal factors in new and young driver crashes. The program seeks to identify crash causes and provide remedies and solutions so that beginning drivers can reduce risk to the greatest extent possible.

Wow! Here you are, wanting to learn to drive! Learning how to drive is a journey full of amazing discovery that requires patience, determination, and commitment – but with an invaluable payoff. When someone gets their driver’s license, it can open a world of freedom and seeming endless possibilities.

Many of our students are teens who are experiencing the thrill of driving for the first time. For our teen students, we will seek to nurture this excitement while stressing the crucial importance of proper vehicle operation, following traffic regulations, best practices, and most importantly, safety.

For any new driver still learning the rules of the road, taking driver’s education instruction can be extremely valuable. With guidance from a professional friendly driving instructor, a new driver is more likely to feel at ease. Investing in driver’s ed can help novice drivers internalize crucial safe driving skills. Defensive driving is a key component of driver’s education. Students are encouraged to think about safe driving practices and the importance of being aware of their surroundings while driving.

The student will be taught how to adjust the driver’s seat, hold the steering wheel, adjust seat belts, position mirrors, and basic information one can’t drive safely without knowing. The student will be introduced to controls that send commands to the car, from the steering wheel, brake, parking brake, accelerator, indicators, and gear shift. Our instructor will seek to put the student at ease during driving lessons. Driving instruction is not so much about testing a student’s skill as it is about teaching a student skills required to be able to drive safely. The instructor will seek to be patient with the student, even if they make mistakes. After all, the only way we really learn to drive is to drive. These are not mere theory lessons. Students are encouraged to drive from the very first lesson.

Our goal is to help the student and instructor work as a team to advance through the stages of basic auto operation in a parking lot or other safe environment into being a confident, safe, competent, and fully functional driver on public roads. As the student advances through the stages of in-car driver instruction, the instructor will be assessing the student’s progress and introducing the student to timely advancement to help them accomplish the driving goals, including preparation for taking and passing the required Missouri driving test.

Note - This lesson only available for students who have previously taken at least one regular 2-hour lesson with our school.

In this 2-hour lesson student will practice a similar route that their driving test at the Highway Patrol will use for one-hour and then the instructor will take them to the testing center to test in our car. We will arrange the Highway Patrol testing appointment to coordinate with the 2-hour lesson, so this one is not scheduled online. In this 5-hour class students will prepare for taking the Missouri written test for their Missouri Instruction (learner's) Permit. The official written test is required to be taken at a Missouri State Highway Patrol Driver Exam Station.
